An exciting opportunity is available for a Community Development & Administration Officer to join our team on a permanent, full time basis. This is a unique opportunity to work in one of Australia’s more remote locations, Burke Shire, in far North West Queensland on the Gulf of Carpentaria. The position is located in Burketown, AKA the Barramundi Capital.

The primary purpose of the role is to support the Community and Communication Manager with the development of community collaborative relationships, event and tourism coordination, and a range of community initiatives and activities.

The position will provide high quality delivery of community services to the Burke Shire region, and will manage day to day relationships with the community, assist with grant applications, deal with community groups, develop communication and strategies that enhance the opportunities for Council and the Shire.

Council encourages employee growth and development and the role may diversify. The successful candidate is not required to have any formal qualifications however must be willing to obtain a Blue Card and complete training required to fulfil the requirements of the position.

This is a permanent, full time position and will be offered at Level 4.1 of the Queensland Local Government (Stream A) Award - $1,147.74 per week.
